The Art and Science of Remodeling
Remodeling is a way to adapt your existing home to the changing needs of your
family. Our goal is to design and build a project that will make the most
of the things you like about your existing home and improve on the things
you don't like.
The Challenges
Remodeling requires extra effort for both the Owner and the Builder. The Owner
has to put up with living in the middle of a construction project and the
accompanying noise, dirt, dust and mud. Power, heat and water services may be
interrupted. You will have company every day in the form of carpenters,
deliveries and trades people. Parking, trash containers and building materials
will occupy space normally used for other activities. In extreme cases it will
be better to move out of the house for the duration of the project. These are
relatively short-term inconveniences and can be mitigated with planning,
scheduling and common courtesy. The pay-off is the transformation of your home
and how it feels to live there for years to come.
The Science
For the Builder, the first challenge is to design a project that addresses your
needs and desires while meeting budget parameters. There are also the practical
difficulties of matching existing siding and roofing materials, upgrading
plumbing and electrical systems, working within zoning setbacks and working
around existing utilities.
The Art
The second challenge is to design the project to look as if it has always been a
part of your home. We think the best look like they belong
and that doesn’t happen without some extra thought and effort. With our 3D
computer software, we can preview your project to get it right. Check out our remodeling Gallery to see “before” and “after” photos of some of our work.
